Showerlays

What shower tray thickness should I choose for my timber floor wet room? Do I also need tile backer boards to level up rest of the floor? Can I buy them in your store? Thanks

Dear Ryan,

There are 3 thicknesses available: 20, 28 and 35 mm and they state how thick shower tray is on the edges. They are much shallower near the drain, which is a result of having premachined diagonal slopes towards the drain.

Floor boards are usually 20 mm thick and to install the shower tray you need to remove them to expose the joists, create battons, fix them to the joists and then mount at least 18 mm thick marine ply between the joists. This will create solid even support for wet room kit, which requires to be underboarded beneath entire surface.

By doing this, you will actually replace the floor board with tile backer board and this will allow to avoid total floor height increase.

Alternatively you can lay the shower tray straight on top of the floor boards but you will need to use tile backer boards to bring up rest of the floor height to the shower tray level.

You can find range of tile backer boards here.

Is it necessary use tanking kit to install this tray?

Dear Simon,

The Showerlay comes with already integrated and waterproofed 500 mm long stainless steel channel drain. Shower tray itself doesn't require additional waterproofing, however we always recommend to do this, especially for timber flooring. Floor/wall joints as well as the splash area should be protected against water and that's where the tanking kit comes really handy.

Waterproofing kit which can be included to this product, is very efficient, one kit covers 3.2 square metres, contains 4kg tanking liquid, 1l primer, 10m sealing tape, 2 corners and 2 pipe collars. It can be purchased for £59 each, while normal price is £99.

If you have any questions I will be happy to help.

What is delivery time for concealed shower tray?

Hello,

Showerlay wet room kit former is available for next day delivery and same day dispatch if order is placed before 3 o'clock. Our courier, TNT delivers from 9am - 6pm. Tracking number with shipping confirmation is sent just after goods are in transit. There's no additional delivery cost.

what size tanking kit would I need for tongue and groove flooring for a 1200X800 tray and which thicknes tray?

Dear Customer,

It depends on your total shower area. Is 800 x 1200 total size of the floor in your shower or is it extended by drying area? If not, one waterproofing kit will be more than enough. Each waterproofing kit covers 3.2 square metres with 2 layers.

Wet room kit comes with drain already integrated and waterproofed so main points of concern are floor/wall joints. The kit is the best for this as it contains 10m sealing tape, 2 corners and 2 pipe collars. If you can spare the tanking liquid, extra waterproofing is always good and should be used to protect the shower area and splash area (extends the shower area by 500 mm off each edge).

We have 30 days unconditional returns right policy so you might want to buy additional kit and if you don't use it you can send it back to us for a full refund.

If you have any questions I will be happy to help.

What clearance is needed from the end to the floor joist? I see 150mm on the plan but is more needed due to the trap?

Dear Customer,

Distance from the shower tray's top edge to the top edge of the drain is 150 mm and 192 mm to the centre of the waste trap.

You will need approximately 65 mm of height below the shower tray, it's diameter is approximately 8 cm. It is completely rotatable and it's pipe can be adjusted.

If you have any questions I will be happy to help.

David 020 7193 0953

what determines thickness selected 20,28 or 35 mm?

Dear Customer,

Biggest difference between thicknesses of the board is the slope the shower tray provides. Thicker shower tray provides sharper slope. This might prevent water from pooling if plenty of water will be going through the shower, although even 20 mm thick tray provides sufficient gradient to make water flow towards the drain. As the bottleneck of the flow rate is the waste siphon trap and we include exactly the same to any thickness it does not determine maximum capacity of the shower tray which is always 26 l/min.

For timber flooring 20 mm thick tray is recommended, because floor boards usually are 18 mm thick and by proper installation you can avoid increasing rest of the floor height. If you have much space you can go for thicker tray if you prefer to have steeper shower.

20 mm thick trays are the most popular one, therefore we carry largest amount of them in our warehouse for next day delivery. Some of 35 mm thick trays might be available within 3 business days.

If you have any questions I will be happy to help.

What are the dimensions of the cutout for drain on the Showerlay Wiper 800 x 1500 mm Line Pure?

Dear Customer,

800 x 1500 shower tray can be trimmed to a minimum size of 640 x 1300 mm.

There's a recommendation though - it would be the best if you could cut equal bits from each side to make sure to keep premachined slope. For example, if you want to shorten 1500 dimension to 1400 it would be the best if you took 50 mm from the top and 50 mm from the bottom of the shower tray.

If you have any questions I will be happy to help.

can the 20mm board be used to replace floorboards in a bathroom with standard 400mm joist centres thanks

Dear Customer,

20 mm thick shower tray is the best for timber floor type. Because floorboards usually are 20 mm thick, 20 mm thick shower tray should be a good solution. According to our fitting recommendations, you need to:

1. Remove floor boards to expose the joists,

2. Prepare and fix battons to the joists, approximately 20 mm from their, upper level.

3. Mount at least 18 mm thick marine ply between the joists, on top of the battons.

4. By doing this, marine ply should be the same level the joists are and this should be a solid support for the shower tray.

5. Shower tray can be fixed using tile adhesive.

If you have any questions I will be happy to help.

Kind regards,

David 020 7193 0953

Can we trim the tray Cut to size?

Dear Customer,

I can confirm that our shower trays can be cut to avoid obstacles and trim the shower tray down to size. How much it can be trimmed it depends on the size of the shower tray and shape of the integrated drainage.

Please let me know what's the size of your shower area and I will confirm which is the best shower tray that would fit your space.

I am happy to assist if you have any questions.

what colour is wetroom tray?

Dear Customer,

Colour of wet room kit is between grey and brown, because it's reinforced with cement. Please notice that shower tray needs to be covered with floor finish material like tiles or mosaic, so you only part of the unit visible after installation is done is the stainless steel drain part. It's not a ceramic shower tray, it's floor level walk in shower tray.

If you have any questions I will be happy to assist.

Hi I am Trying to order wet room kit and would like the Tivano pattern for the grate but system won't give the option thanks stuart

Dear Stuart,

You need to add proper product to your shopping basket, you will find Showerlay Wiper 900 x 1700 mm Line Tivano here. Alternatively we can just manually alter your order later, there's an option to add your custom comment to your order.

Can the former sit on the joists or does it sit on the flooring

Dear Customer,

Our Showerlay must be fully underboarded, but by proper installation you can achieve the same way as if it was sitting on the floor boards. Basically you need to remove existing floor boards to expose the joists. Then you need to prepare battens and fix them to the sides of the joists. After it's done, you would need to mount at least 18 mm thick marine ply between the joists, on top of the battens. By doing this you will be able to replace former floor boards with the shower tray.

Please see our fitting instructions for more details.

I am happy to help if you have any questions.

do you do other sizes?

Dear Customer,

This shower tray is available in 11 sizes, 4 square and 7 rectangular shapes. You can find them all here:

https://wetroomsdesign.co.uk/wet-room-shower-trays

We can also supply custom sized shower tray, please contact us to receive individual quote. These formers can be cut to avoid obstacles or shorten down to size with a standard handsaw.

Let me know if you have any questions.

I recently bought 3 Shower tray formers from you. The picture on you web-site show the Drain channel standing proud of the surface to allow for tiling. The drainage chanel in the trays you have sent me are flush with the top surface of the former, H . . .

Dear John,

I can see that you ordered 2x Showerlay Wiper 900 x 1500 mm Point Tivano, and 1x Showerlay 900 x 1850 mm Line Invisible shower tray. In case of the formers with Square Tivano drainage, drain should go above the shower tray level for 15 mm.

Situation is different for Showerlay 900 x 1850 mm Line Invisible, this shower tray comes with drainage which is completely leveled with the board and there's no vertical frame at all as you noticed. They do not have restriction for floor finish material thickness, but there's other restriction - there's only one grating available - tileable one. Grating needs to be covered with tiles as well, so after the installation is over, you could see only the channel which allows the water to flow.

You will need to aesthetically finish your tiles, to be sure they are not sharp (this can be achieved for example with water jet cutting). Alternatively you might want to take a look at similar shower tray but also vertical frame - Showerlay 900 x 1850 mm Line Pure.

Let me know if you have any questions.

Kind regards

My client's wet room area is only 680 wide. Could we trim the 800 tray down to that size without effecting the drainage fall

Dear Customer,

Yes, our showerlay can be trimmed to size using regular handsaw. It is very easy and doesn't do any harm to the tray. When trimming, make sure you cut it for equal distances from both sides to preserve premade fall the drain.

We can also supply custom sized shower tray, please contact us to receive individual quote if you are interested.

If you have any questions I will be happy to help.

Hi I am after a 900 x 1400 tray, is it ok to cut 100mm off the 1500 tray and if so I imagine it is taken off the end opposite the waste?

Dear Customer,

I can confirm that the wet room kits we supply are trimmable, you can cut them down to size or to avoid obstacles with a standard handsaw. We recommend to take equal bits from each side to make sure that premachined slope is preserved, for example if you want to take 100 mm from one dimension you should take 50 mm from the top and 50 mm from the bottom.

If you have any questions I will be happy to help.

Does the tray come with drain cover and trap? Or do I have to buy this separate

Dear Customer,

Product is complete, so you don't need to buy anything separately. Drainage channel is integrated with the board and it also comes with grate (6 patterns available) and McAlpine waste trap.

There's option to include the waterproofing kit to your order, which I would especially recommend for timber flooring. It is very cost efficient, only £59 / 3m2˛ (2 coats).

Hi Guys, I want to purchase the 800 x 1500 line pure tray with 3m tanking. Im currently working in Hong Kong. This is the first of several shower rooms to be done out here and I am looking for a supplier who would be happy to send to Hong Kong. Is t . . .

Hello,

We're going to check whether we can deliver to Hong Kong and send the quote to your email address, however it will be very expensive, probably much more expensive than the shower tray itself.

If possible, it would be much better for us to deliver to UK for free and then you could arrange a pickup to your final delivery address.

Your installation of wet room kit in timber floor shows channel direction parallel to floor joist direction;in my case floor joists run at right angles to channel;does this mean I have to notch at least 1,possibly 2 joists to accomodate bottom of ch . . .

Hello,

Thank you for your question.

Nothing the joists is not recommended. It is much better option to try to find a drain with different outlet position or maybe just the linear drain itself and create your own sloped floor.

Waste trap they are equippped with is completely rotatable and it's pipe is adjustable.

I am happy to help if you have any questions.

Why is there a choice of tray thickness. Are the different thicknesses for different types of flooring. Is the thinnest tray not as strong as the others?

Dear Customer,

The biggest difference between each thickness is the slope, thicker shower tray provides larger slope, however even 20 mm thick tray provides sufficient slope for free water fall.

As they all have to be underboarded, even 20 mm thick shower tray is strong enough to bear a lot of weight.

For timber flooring 20 mm thick shower tray is the best option, if you have more space then you could go for thicker one, it might prevent water from getting outside the shower if you're going to have plenty of water going through it.

I am happy to help if you have any questions.

i need a wet room shower base 1500x 800 that we can use with a vinyl floor covering

Hello,

We've got a product which should match your needs, Showerlay 800 x 1500 mm Line Invisible. It is suitable for vinyl flooring, however has to be covered entirely, including the grating.Â

Waterproofing is also highly recommended prior to fitting. There's an option to include or not a waterproofing kit before adding it to your shopping cart. It costs £59 / 3 m2˛ and convers that area with 2 coats.

How do I tile on top? Is there a pattern to follow?

Dear Customer,

The shower tray is 4-way slope, there's a line from the corner of the board to the corner of the drain. Your tiles have to be cut according to that.

You can see the technical diagram on the appropriate tab, it shows the slope. In general you should something which looks like an envelope once the installation is over.

I am happy to help if you have any further questions.

Hello, could you please tell me, how long for delivery showerlay linear 800x1000  £ 299.99 to London NW6. I would need it for Tuesday/Wednesday next week. Is it difficult to tile it? Thank you. Kind regards Katie . . .

Dear Customer,

We normally deliver standard-sized shower trays with next day delivery, however 1000 x 800 is not one of them.

there are 2 options:

1. You could go for 800 x 1200 and trim it down to size, it's price is: £ 289.84. It could be delivered quickly and trimmed down to size easily.

2. There's possibility to have a custom tray manufactured, would cost more and take longer to delivery, however we could make 1000 x 800 mm shower tray.

Let me know if you're interested and I will prepare a technical diagram and quote for you.

Does this tray work for a concrete floor?

Dear Customer,

Yes, our shower trays are suitable for concrete and wooden floors. Wet room kits are available in three thicknesses: 20, 28 and 35 mm. Every thickness is suitable for concrete floor. I have attached fitting instruction for this type of floor, you can read it by clicking the following link:

Is is possible to trim this former down to 800mm wide?

Hello,

Yes this shower tray can be cut to a minimum size of 760 x 1560 mm.

This can be easily done with a handsaw. We recommend to take equal parts from the opposite sides so the premachined slope towards the drain is preserved.

Is it ok to lay this tray onto insulation board as the main floor is being built up on this above the concrete oversite and then 40mm liquid screed on top?

Hello,

I think that this way of preparing a base for the tray should work well, however that 40 mm liquid screed may cause a problem because there's a drainage integrated with the tray which vertical upstand is 15 mm high. You would need to cast the tray somewhere in the screed layer, 15 mm from it's surface. If you're able to deal with that, our product should work well. It has integrated & waterproofed drainage, McAlpine waste trap with pipe and slopes, should be safe and easy to fit and convenient to use.

I am happy to assist if you have any questions.

David 020 7193 0953

What is the difference is between standard and stainless steel grates? The side view photos aren't very helpful in determining this.

Hello,

Those products are very similar. There's only slight difference in grating. Standard grate edges are rounded, while Stainless steel has right angles.

Regarding flow rate - we cannot retrieve this information from the manufacturer, however they have like standard 26-32 l/min throughput.

To be honest with you - this type of product is not that popular and I would personally recommend to go for similar, but better Premium drains.

Kind regards

David 020 7193 0953

Can you please confirm if this tray is suitable to be installed onto joists rather than on a solid floor??

Dear Customer,

The tray can be installed in timber frame floors, it needs to be supported by about 18mm marine plywood between the joists. For full installation instructions, please search for ''Installation'' at the product page.

If you have any further questions please contact me.

Kind regards,

Adam 017 0927 3601

If I fit this tray do I need to put tile backing board on top of it? If i do add the backing board do I then need to use the tanking kit over the backing board and then tile it? It doesn't look like there is enough room between the tray and the top . . .

Hi,

The showerlay itself is covered with material that is perfect for tile-on, however please notice that it comes with integrated drainage which is 15 mm high, therefore you need to check your tile thickness. If your tiles are 10-14 mm thick, using tile backing board is not necessary, if your tiles are thinner then you may need to use tile backing boards to level the tiles with the drain's frame. Tiles must be flushed with the frame, otherwise water will not be drained.

In addition, if your tiles are thicker than 14 mm, we have alternative solution - Showerlay Invisible - it doesn't have any vertical frame at all so there's no restriction for your finish material height, however it have to be covered with your tiles, or other material (marble, stone) entirely.

Kind regards

Agnes

I'm wanting to trim around 150mm off the end furthest away from the drain, what's the maximum that can be removed from this end?

Hello,

This shower tray can be trimmed to a minimum size of 960 x 960 mm, however we highly recommend to take equal bits from each opposite ends so premachined slope towards the drain is presever.

If you wanted to take 150 mm only from further end of the tray you it would make your floor uneven, one end would be higher than the opposite one. It would be possible to take 75 mm from one end and 75 from the opposite one and that would effectively shorten the tray down by 150 mm.

Alternatively we can offer bespoke, custom shower tray. It would have perfect slopes and would be the size your need without having to trim it, however unlike other products on our website it would take longer to have it delivered (would need to be manufactured first) which can take 6-10 business days and would cost more.

I am happy to help if you have any quesitons.

Kind regards

Adam 017 0927 3601

What is the maximum thickness tile that I can use on this tray? Thanks.

Hello,

This tray will accept standard-thickness tiles, from 4-14 mm. Distance from the shower tray surface surrounding the drain to the vertical upstand edge is 15 mm. If your tiles are significantly lower or thicker, then please see Showerlay Invisible. It will accept any thickness tiles, however it must always be tiled on entirely, including the grating.

I am happy to help if you have any further questions.

Kind regards

David 020 7193 0953

is this product ok with under floor electric heating please

Hello,

Yes. This product can be used with underfloor heating. The heating device should be installed on top of the tray.

It is based on XPS which is good insulator against sound and warmth, therefore if it was installed under the board it would limit the warmth that could go through the tray.

Please notice that the vertical frame of the drain integrated with that tray is 15 mm and that's the space to fit your tiles, tile adhesive and underfloor heating into.

That can go slightly above the frame, never under. If your total material is much thicker than 15 mm we have another tray, we call it Invisible, it doesn't have any restriction about finish material thickness, although it has other - must be covered with it entirely.

Kind regards

Hi, Could you please advise if this could be placed on concrete? Thanks Kirsty

Dear Kirsty,

Thanks for your question.

Those wet room trays only require solid, even surface underneath them, therefore they are 100% suitable with concrete and timber floors.

Depending on how much space you have there, you have an option of 20, 28 and 35 mm thick tray. Thicker tray gives more slope, which can be beneficial if you're going to have plenty of water going through your shower area.

I am happy to assist if you have any questions.

what is the weight of the the tray ? thanks

Dear Alastair,

Total weight of this wet room tray is approximately 10 kg. It consist of stainless steel linear drain channel which increases it's weight significantly.

Please notice that it always needs to be underboarded, so it doesn't really matter because marine ply can bear weight of several hundred kilograms.

I am happy to assist if you have any questions.

The tray is going onto a concrete/screed flloor and the surrounding height can be adjusted to suit. Which is the best thickness of tray to go for? Basically, why are there differing thicknesses of tray?

Dear Harvey,

The only real benefit from thicker tray is the slope. Thicker tray is steeper, so if you're going to have a lot of water going through the shower area it can be beneficial to have thicker shower tray. However even 20 mm thick tray will provide sufficient slope so no matter where the water drops it will still be drained.

20 mm is the most popular thickness and recommended especially for timber floors (because floor boards are usually of similar thickness) and by proper installation you can simply replace them. If you have concrete floor and more space thicker tray can be a good option as well.

I am happy to help if you have any questions.

we had this fitted a while ago and the tiles weren't cut to follow the slopes angles of the former. The tiles have now been pulled up and It isn't clear where the inclines are. Can new tiles be laid over this and what is the process? Thanks

Hello,

I am sorry to hear that you encountered problems with wet room tray purchased from us.

Tiles need to be cut according the slopes of the shower tray. It has diagonal slopes, from every corner of the tray to every corner of the drain. Technical diagram attached to my message reflects them.

Please notice that they are very delicate and can be hard to spot.

I am happy to assist if you have any questions.

Can the tray be used with inscreed underfloor heating cables?

Dear Dave,

I can confirm that this shower tray can be used with inscreed underfloor heating cables. Please notice though that XPS, which is the material this shower tray is based on is great heat insulator, therefor if you underfloor heating was installed under the tray, it would have only a limited impact on your tiles level.

We advise to install UFH only on top of the tray, directly below the tiles. Alternatively you can install the heating on the area surrounding the tray. Hot water usually provides enough warmth and heating on the other areas of the floor in a shower can help evaporate water much quicker than it normally is.

I am happy to assist if you have any questions.

could I mount a toilet on it for a shower toilet combination?

Hello Andre,

No. You cannot put anything on top of the wet room tray because it's sloped on the entire surface. This is a tray, that must be tiled on and should serve only as shower area.

If you wanted to mount toilet or some furniture you could go for smaller wet room tray and use tile backer board on the remaining floor area. It would be even and could be used for putting down other bathroom fixtures.

I am happy to assist if you have any further questions.

I have bought and installed your Showerlay Wiper 800 x 1500 Line Pure shower tray and am about to tile it. we want to use mosaic tiles which are just 6mm thick. After tanking and adhesive the tiles are likely to be about 4 mm below the level of the . . .

Dear Lawrence,

I understand your concern. Please notice that while having the future floor level under the frame's height is not acceptable, having tiles sitting slightly above the frame is fine. Ideal situation is where tiles are sitting flushed with the frame.

There are 2 solutions:

- using multiple layer of tile adhesive. After first layer is dry you can apply another to build up height which will allow your mosaic tiles to be flushed with the drain's frame.

- using tile backer boards. You'd need to get 6 mm thick tile backer boards, cut them according to the slopes on the tray and fit them prior to finishing it with mosaic.

In both case the most important thing to do is not jeopardizing the slopes on top of the tray. There are diagonal slopes from every corner of the tray to every corner of the drain.

I am happy to assist if you have any further questions.

Kind regards

I have one of your 900 x 1600 20mm thick wiper trays. I am well pleased with it. I am about to start on my second ensuite bathroom and I do not quite understand why if you have a thicker tray the slope will be greater?

Dear Richard,

I am glad to hear that you are happy with our wet room tray installation.

This is correct. Thicker tray provides steeper slope. This can be beneficial if plenty of water is going through your shower area. However it will require more space to be installed.

Even 20 mm thick tray provides sufficient slope for a single shower head though.

I am happy to assist if you have any further questions.

Can I trim down the length of the wetroom floor former by 20 cm? Thank you

Dear Claire,

This wet room tray can be trimmed down to a minimum size of 660 by 960. It depends on which size you want to cut down. If you want to shorten the longer side then yes, you can trim it down by 20 mm.

Please notice that we recommend to take equal bits from each opposite side to make sure that premachined slope towards the drain is preserved. Cutting them down to a size is one of their features, it's perfectly safe and can be easily done with a pencil and handsaw.

We can also offer bespoke trays manufactured to size, they are more expensive though and takes longer to have them delivered. Let me know if you're interested.

This looks great, I'm looking to have a 1200 x 2300mm walk in shower with a 1200 returning screen. This would be perfect (I think) I don't know what height I need though the intent was to use a 18 or 22 mm structural backing board and wanted this to . . .

Dear Tom,

Thank you for being interested in our products. 1200 x 1200 would be fine shower tray for 1200 x 2300 mm wet room enclosed by a shower screen.

According to our fitting instructions, we recommend to remove floor boards, fix battens to the joints and mount at least 18 mm thick marine plywood in between the joints so the ply and joints are on the same level. Then you can fit the tray on top of that prepared supports.

In such case your tray just replace the floor board. If you want to use 18 mm thick backer boards on the remaining floor area I would recommend to go for 35 mm thick tray.

Hi, is 20mm tile backer board suitable to lay directly onto floor joists to replace the old chipboard & then tile on top of? Is it strong enough for that? Cheers, LJ.

Dear LJ,

No. Tile backer board cannot replace floor boards.

You should:

- remove existing floor boards

- fix battens to the sides of the joints

- mount at least 18 mm thick marine ply in between the joists on top of the battens

- cover newly created floor with tile backer boards and proceed to tiling

I am happy to assist if you have any questions.

Planning a bathroom design and wanted to use a wet room shower tray. We want to use wood tile that are 200 mm x 1200 mm. Is it possible to use this size tile on a tray measuring 900 mm x 1850 mm w center drain?

Hello,

It would be possible to tile on 900 x 1850 mm tray with 200 x 1200 mm tiles. Please notice that this tray has slopes from every corner of the tray to every corner of the drain.

Tiles will require careful cutting but yes, the tray is suitable with even large format tiles.

I am happy to assist if you have any questions.

Kind regards

- Looking at the 900 x 1700mm wet room shower tray. Is this compatible with Topps Tiles waterproofing kit/underfloor heating/wet room kit? I had all of the Topps Tiles kit on order but their tray is only 1500 whereas yours at 1700 would fit the room . . .

- Looking at the 900 x 1700mm wet room shower tray. Is this compatible with Topps Tiles waterproofing kit/underfloor heating/wet room kit? I had all of the Topps Tiles kit on order but their tray is only 1500 whereas yours at 1700 would fit the room space exactly.

It should be perfectly compatible with products from them, but you need to know that most of our products are suitable with 4-14 mm thick tiles. Our wet room kits are designed perfect for 8-10 mm thick tiles.

- Why is only one of the drain covers say it's suitable for tiling? Surely the tray will always be tiled over?

One of the covers (called Pure) must be tiled in. Every tray must be tiled over, but this one special grating must be filled in with tiles. It would be completely tiled after the installation (you would only see small channels allowing the water to flow).

- Is there any issue using this on a wooden chipboard floor? (I am aware that the floor will need to be cut out and noggins and boards added between so as it is firm and level).

The tray can be installed on a timber floor. It just needs to be supported beneath entire surface. You would either need to remove the floor boards, fix battens to the sides of the joists and then mount ply in between the joists or you could just lay directly on the floor boards.

I am happy to assist in case of any further questions.

Hi there I would like know is it 800mm wide for 1200mm long??

Hello,

Yes, it's 800 mm wide (drain is located parallel to this, shorter edge) and 1200 mm long.

There'a technical diagram shown on a tab named that.

I am also going to send it to your e-mail so you can have a look.

I will be happy to assist if you have any questions.

do they do a 20mm invisible one way shower tray ?

Dear Andrew,

OneWay sloped shower trays are only available in 30 or 40 mm thicknesses, because of their technical specification.

If you prefer 20 mm thick tray, please see similar sized 4-way sloped tray here:

Showerlay Wiper 900 x 1200 mm Line Invisible

It's default thickness is set to 20, it can also be 28 and 35 mm thick.

I am happy to assist if you have any questions.

Can 100mm be cut off from both ends of this wet room former. We really need a size of 1300 x 900.

Hello,

I can confirm that this product can be cut to a minimum size of 660 by 1260 so it would just fit. Trimming them down to size is one of their features.

Alternatively we could deliver bespoke shower tray, 1300 x 900. This would cost more and would take longer to have it delivered.

Let me know if you're interested and I will reply with a quote.

Kind regards

We need a tray which is 1300 x 900?

Hello,

900 x 1300 is not one of our standard shower tray size at the moment.

You could either go for 900 x 1500 and trim it down to size or we could offer bespoke product.

Trimming the wet room trays to size is one of their features, standard procedure which can be easily done with a handsaw. I can confirm that 900 x 1500 can be trimmed to 900 x 1300 mm.

Alternatively we could offer 900 x 1300 bespoke tray, it would take longer to receive it, 6-10 days (because it would need to be produced first) and would cost more.

Let me know if you are interested and I will reply with exact quote.

Hi There, I recently purchased one of these 900x1200 line pures from you for a development I'm working on. I now need another two. Can you do a discount? Kind regards, George

Dear George,

Thank you for your question.

I have sent you an email with a discount voucher.

Many thanks for continued business.

Hi. Is it possible to trim the size of your wet room kits? We have a 1150 x 800mm space, so would need to reduce the length of your 1200x800 product. Many thanks, Dan

Hello,

Yes, trimming them down to size is one of their features. 50 mm from one side is a very little and definitely can be trimmed off. This tray can be shorten down to a minimum size of 560 by 960 mm.

It can be done with a regular handsaw. If possible, please cut the equal bits from each side to preserve premachined slopes towards the drain.

I will be happy to assist if you have any questions.

Kind regards

Can this product be cut to size? Thank you

Hi Will,

Yes, trimming down to size is one of the features of these trays. It can be easily done with a standard handsaw.

If possible we recommend to cut equal bits from each opposite side so premachined slope is preserved, for eg if you want to trim height by 100 mm, you should cut 50 mm from the top and 50 mm from the bottom.

We alternatively can offer these trays in bespoke sized version, however price and delivery time would be increased.

I will be happy to assist if you have any questions.

Kind regards

David 020 7193 0953

Does it come in white?

Dear David,

This product is a wet room former that must be covered with tiles, therefore it is not visible after the installation.

It's colour is brown, which is reinforcement glue colour. If you do not like tileable wet room trays, we can offer stone resin shower trays available in various colours here:

https://wetroomsdesign.co.uk/mineral-shower-trays

I will be happy to assist if you have any questions.

Hi, I have recently purchased a shower lay wiper 900/1700 shower tray former that I intend to install next week but have a query. Once the tray is installed and I have applied the appropriate tanking liquid to it, if water were to get through the ti . . .

Dear Peter,

That's correct, the frame goes above the tray for approximalely 15 mm.

Tiles are normally 8-12 mm and to build up the space you would need to use a layer or multiple layers of tile adhesive. You can apply a new layer once the first once is dry.

Alternatively you can use tile backer boards. You would need to cut them according to their slopes and cover the tray with them.

I will be happy to assist if you have any questions.

Hi I'm really interested in this item and I'm looking a black one but it looks like anthracite in the pictures can u send a true life picture to see how black it really looks thanks

Dear Andrew,

I will ask manufacturer for some pictures and will send them over to your email as soon as their reply. Please notice that it always depends on your monitor and camera settings therefore I am afraid we will never be able to show how it really looks.

You can specify RAL colour you want the shower tray to be manufactured in though. This should ensure it will look exactly how you want.

Can this tray be used with a mortex finish and instead of tiling the waste that could also be mortexed?

Dear Kevin,

While our wet room trays are designed for tiles they are also suitable for other material types like stone, mosaic, marble or polished concrete.

The only restriction is that the drain integrated to the tray protrudes for 15 above the tray. You must make your future floor level flushed with the drain frame. If you can set the tray at correct height, cover it with floor levelling compound and then cover with Mortex it will work fine.

Another thing you should bear in mind is the slopes on the tray which must be preserved. It will be difficult but you should try to cover the tray with mortex layer equally thick on it's entire surface.

Fitting would require more effort, however yes, our trays are suitable with polished concrete-like materials, for an instance Mortex.

Thanks for being interested in our products.

Can product be used with vinyl & ultimately for wheelchair user?

Dear Oliver,

This product is designed to be used with tile or similar floor covering materials like marble, stone or mosaic.

At the moment we do not have any product that is suitable for vinyl floor covering and wheelchair use at the same time.

We do have a drain that would match your requirements, available here:

Linear drain Wiper 600 mm Invisible

However your builder would need to make sure that there are proper slopes made on the floor.

Hi, I understand you may have spoken to my plumber, We need them to custom make the drain offsetting the waste 650mm from the left of the tray* could you arrange to do this please?

Dear Jenny,

Yes we can arrange bespoke drain with offset waste, or tray with offset drain.

Would you be able to draw on a piece of paper the shower tray you would like to buy? If you could mark it's length, height, drain position and distance from left-hand side of the tray to the centre of the outlet that would be everything I need to know.

Please find attached technical diagram, hope it helps.

Looking forward to hearing from you.

Is this tray suitable for electric underfloor heating to go onto?

Dear David,

This tray is suitable underfloor heating usage. However because it's a good insulator it can limit the effect underfloor heating provides if it's installed under the tray. It's best to install it on top of the tray, under the tiles.

To do that you need to take into consideration that there is 15 mm vertical frame, which is fixed and cannot be adjusted. Your material installed on top of the tray (including tiles) can go slightly above the frame but it's not recommended to have it several mm above. Ideally it's flushed with the drain, for an instance you would need 6 mm UHF mat, 8 mm tiles and 1 mm for tile adhesive.

Hi the stone duplach trays, can they be fitted as normal shower trays? Also do you have a show room?

Dear Katy,

Yes, they can be installed flushed with the floor (just like in wet rooms) or on top of the existing floor, like tranditional shower trays.

We do have a warehouse in Rotherham, where you can come, see and pickup our products, unfortunately we do not have a lot of the Duplach shower trays there.

can you send me please a section drawing showing a breakdown of the height of waste trap and shower tray combined so i know the full depth as this is going to be set into a solid floor already screeded. It will be positioned in the corner of a ground . . .

Please find technical diagram of the tray here:

and waste trap diameters described here:

I am also going to send you another message showing additional waste traps available for that tray, that are not yet added to our website as a standard products.

Many thanks for being interested in our products.

How is this fixed down? There is nothing obvious in the kit to do it. The kit instructions are quite vague

Dear Catherine,

Shower tray needs to be stuck down to the floor base with tile adhesive. It is covered with cement based glue that connects to tile adhesive very well on both sides.

Please do not use any screws or nails, which could compromise it's waterproofness. Clear the floor from dust and debris, apply a thing layer of tile adhesive and lay the wet room tray down.

Thank you for your feedback on our fitting instructions, we are going to consider revising them and adding such information there.

Kind regards

David 020 7193 0953

what is the maximum make up that can go ontop for the drain to still work. I potentially have 15mm , would this work?

Dear Richard,

15 mm is the maximum thickness of all material that you would install on top of the tray.

Same tray with tileable cover accepts up to 20 mm floor finish material thickness, available here:

Showerlay Wiper 900 x 900 mm Point Pure

Alternatively we do have other drain types, available only in linear version, which do not have any restriction for finish material thickness at all, you can see them here:

Showerlay Wiper Line Invisible

can I get 1200 wide x 1500 long walk in shower Tray

Dear Vajil,

We have 11 standard sizes and 1200 x 1500 is not one of them. We could:

1. Create a bespoke sized tray. It would be more expensive and would take longer to have it delivered. Let me know if you're interested and I will send you another message with the quote.

2. We could deliver a standard 800 x 1500 wet room tray and you could use tile backer boards to fill in remaining space.

Looking forward to hearing from you.

Why does the drainage protrude 15mm up from the surface which is much higher than laid tile or esp a vinyl floor finish on top ?

Dear Paul,

Typical tile thickness is 10 or 12mm. In our Showerlays drain protrudes for 14-15mm, this is to accommodate the tiles and appropriate bed of tile adhesive. Showerlay Wiper Invisible can be used with sheet flooring.

Kind regards,

Adam, 017 0927 3601

hello -is this 1200mm wide by 1200mm long? we are looking for a square tray 1200 x 1200 - the spec says so but the dimensions look rectangular. also where is the drain?

Dear Jules,

At the moment we have pictures only for rectangular version of the tray, but it is 1200 x 1200 mm square.

You can see the drain size and position at the Technical Drawing tab. It is parallel to the shorter edge, near the frame.

I will be happy to assist if you have any questions.

After I have installed this tray can I tile straight on top of it or do I need to create a gradient with my tiling?

Dear Oliver,

You can tile straight on top of the tray, it is reinforced with material that connects to tile adhesive very well.

Gradient is already premachined, in case of this tray the slopes are from every corner of the board to every corner of the tray.

It's crucial to cut your tiles according to the slope of the tray. You will need to diagonal cuts to match tiles shape to the slope. Please check Technical Drawing tab on the product page to see the slopes.

I will be happy to answer any more of your questions.

Kind regards

David 020 7193 0953

can this tray be mounted on legs/frame off the floor? thanks.

Dear Paul,

It needs to be underboarded, therefore it could be installed on a frame, but you would need to fit plywood in between the frame's joists.

Our tiler has raised concerns about using our small mosaic tiles on top of the wet room former as the tile is about 5mm shorter then the height of the stainless steel drainer. Would he simply build this up with his adhesive? He also raised concerns . . .

Dear Nicola,

You need to make your mosaic flushed with the integrated drain's frame. It can go sligthly above, but should never be below the frame level.

It can be achieved either by using tile backer boards, which would need to be cut according to the shower tray slopes or with multiple layer of tile adhesive. 5 mm is distance difference could be made up by 2 layers of 2.5 mm tile adhesive.

I will be happy to assist if you have any other questions.

David 020 7193 0953

I need a 700 by 1200 tile former. What are my options?

Dear David,

There are 2 options I would recommend:

- The tray available on this product page (800 x 1200) and cutting it down to size. One of their feature is that they are easily trimmable down to size. I can confirm that you cut cut it down to size to 700 x 1200 mm.

- Bespoke tray. It would have increased delivery time and cost but we could supply 700 x 1200 tray. Let me know if you are interested and I will send all the necessary details.

Hi I am buying this product for a loft ectension wetroom. we are tiling with cement encaustic tiles, with that be ok? Thanks Sue

Dear Sue,

Thank you for your question. Encaustic tiles share most technical properties with standard ceramic tiles therefore yes, they should be suitable to be used with our shower tray.

Only requirements for tiles from our wet room kits is that:

- they should be of standard thickness: 4-14 mm

- they could be cut according to the slopes on the tray (either 4-way slope or 1-way slope),

- they will match shape of the tray (they won't be too big).

I will be happy to answer if you have any questions.

I am trying to visualise how the oneway fall product will look at the edges- where the slope towards the drain meets the rest of the bathroom floor is there a triangular space that will require tiling/trimmed? Or does it end up flush with the rest o . . .

Dear Alison,

OneWay wet room trays slope from 30 or 40 mm to 18 mm thickness on the other end. It means that the thicker end should be flushed with rest of the floor in your bathroom, while the opposite side will be lower by 12 or 22 mm.

There will be triangular space on the side of the tray which should be tiled on. Shower screen usually is installed right above it.

If you require further assistance please let me know.

Kind regards

David M 020 7193 0953

Can this be trimmed to 1300mm?

Dear Stuart,

From our measures those trays can be trimmed by up to 115 mm from each side, therefore yes, it would be possible to cut one of the tray's sides to 1300 mm.

It is advisable to take equal bits from each opposite side (100 mm from the top and 100 mm from the bottom).

Alternatively we could offer a bespoke tray, made exactly to match your requirements. It would be more expensive, would cost more and take longer to be delivered.

If you are interested please let me know, I will follow up with more details.

Hi I'm after one of these trays but wanted it to be horizontal would this be possible? Thanks

Dear Jess,

Thanks for being interested in our products. What do you mean by horizontal? Do you want the linear drain to be integrated parallel to the longer edge?

If yes, it is possible, however it would be bespoke product with increased delivery time and cost. Let me know if you are interested and I will send you an email with technical diagram and quotation.

Hi, This will be going on a screed floor. Can I ask the depth from top of tray to bottom of drain channel. Then bottom of waste trap. I'm trying to work out a finished floor height. Thanks

Dear Neal,

Thank you for being interested in our offer.

Total space you would need under the tray is 65 mm. You need to add thickness of the tray which can be chosen (20, 28, 35 mm on the edges) to have total installation heght. It is 85, 93 or 100 mm.

I will be happy to assist if you have any further questions.

Dear Mick,

Yes, OneWay fall Showerlay wet room trays are suitable for wheelchair use. You shouldn't use it with mosaic tiles though. As long as it's going to be finished with tiles it should be fine.

Can this be installed on a non screwed floating floor please? Are there different size available or can they be made to measure? Many thanks

Dear Helene,

They may be installed on a floating floor, however they are usually installed where they are flushed with rest of the floor. They also need to be covered with floor finish material (usually tiled). All that the tray requires is solid even support underneath.

Those trays are available in 11 standard sizes, it is also possible to have a bespoke size, however it would have increased delivery time and cost. Please let me know what's the size you are interested in and I will reply with more details.

Hi, can I use a vinyl rather than tiles as a floor covering with a wet room kit

Dear Chris,

There's a range of shower trays suitable for vinyl floor in our store at the moment. It's called Invisible and you can find them here:

Showerlay Line Invisible

There's one restriction with them though: you need to cover the drain's grating with vinyl as well.

I will be happy to assist if you have any questions.

Hi there, I was wondering if the Showerlay Wiper 800 x 1200 mm Line Pure had to be installed over a solid timber base or if it could span between joists unsupported. Thanks Rory

Dear Rory,

The tray can be laid directly on top of the joists, however you need to mount at least 18 mm thick marine ply boards in between them, so at the end of the day, the tray sits on the joists and the board.

Please see our fitting instructions for more detials:

- What is the tile thickness required in the invisible tray? - Can the tray be cut to size (I need 1400mm length)

Dear Peter,

There's no minimum tile thickness for Invisible tray type. It will accept any thickness tiles and any other finish materials like marble or stone. Only restriction this tray has is that the drain grating must be covered with it entirely.

I can also confirm that those kind of trays can be cut down to size. That's one of their features and can be done easily. You would just need to draw a straight line parallel to the edge on the opposite side to where the drain is and cut the 100 mm off with a handsaw.

Alternatively we could offer a bespoke tray of 900 x 1400 mm size, however it would be more expensive and would take longer to have it delivered.

I will be happy to assist if you have any questions.

Hi, I recently purchased this tray on the basis I could cut down to 960. I have since noticed their have been 3different answers to the minimum this can be cut to. Could you please clarify? Thanks

Dear Ross,

This tray can be trimmed down to a minimum size of 960 x 660. This is determined by the integrated drainage size.

We have clarified this with manufacturer, previous answers may have been given before that. In case you are concerned if the tray can be trimmed to a size you require, we can offer a bespoke tray, with exact dimensions you require. It would cost more and would take longer to be delivered but it is possible.

I will be happy to help if you have any questions.

Hello with you 800x1200 linear wetroom tray can you cut anything of either side??

Dear Bobby,

Those trays can be trimmed down to size, that's one of their features. This tray could be cut down to a minimum size of 560 x 960 mm.

What's the size you want to cut it down to?

Alternative option is to have a bespoke tray. We could make it in any size, it would have increased delivery time and cost though.

If you are interested in bespoke product - please let me know the size and I will reply with quotation and technical diagram for your approval.

I will be happy to assist if you have any questions.

David 020 7193 0953

Do you do larger sizes and how much?

Hello Michael,

Yes we do.

Largest standard square tray is 1200 x 1200,

Largest standard rectangular tray is 900 x 1850.

We are also able to offer bespoke trays. You would need to tell me what's the size you are interested in and I will reply with technical diagram and exact quotation. As far as I recall, trays can be as large as 2000 x 2200 mm (however the cost increases with the size).

Kind regards

David 020 7193 0953

Does the tray come in 1200 by 1500

Dear Colin,

1200 x 1500 is not one of our standard size, there are 2 solutions if that's your shower area:

1. Using 1200 x 1200 mm wet room tray and 300 x 1200 mm flat tile backer board as a gap filler (drying area can be flat, small amounts of water can easily evaporate).

2. Buying bespoke 1200 x 1500 mm wet room tray, I would need to know full specification to confirm the quote, but it would roughly cost £605.10 and would take 10 days to deliver.

I will be happy to assist if you have any further questions.

Kind regards

David 020 7193 0953

Can you put this side by side to make it into 2m X 1m or do you sell 2m x 1m kit

Dear Kiran,

Thank you for being interested in our products.

2000 x 1000 mm is not one of our standard size. There are 2 possible options:

1. Using 900 x 1850 mm wet room tray and flat tile backer board as a gap filler (drying area can be flat, small amounts of water can easily evaporate).

2. Buying bespoke 2000 x 1000 mm wet room tray, I would need to know full specification to confirm the quote, but it would roughly cost £663.90 and would take 10 days to deliver.

I will be happy to assist if you have any further questions.

Hi, We are looking at the wet room kit 1200x1200mm line pure. We are in the process of fitting our upstairs en-suite, and have noticed that in the small print of the information you provided the tray can not be installed on the joists but instead wo . . .

Dear Rhian,

Could you please provide us with your order reference so I can have a look into details of your order? Those trays can be installed upstairs, actually they are quite good for that since they provide decent acoustic insulation (prevents sound of a shower to be heard downstairs).

I can confirm that the tray can be installed both on top of the joists with ply in between them and on top of the timber frame floor.

I have sent detailed fitting instruction to your email.

If that's insufficient please let me know and I will reply with further details.

Kind regards

David 020 7193 0953

Not sure whether to buy a 30 or 40mm thickness tray. Is it dependent on the structure of my floor? Many thanks, Andy

Dear Andy,

Thicker tray provides better slopes and insulation but requires more space and costs more.

You need to decide what's better for you.

20 mm is the most popular thickness and offers sufficient slope for most Customers.

I will be happy to assist if you have any questions.

Kind regards

David 020 7193 0953

This may seem a stupid question but can I tile on top of this tray, is this it’s purpose.

Dear Ray,

This questions is absolutely crucial and constructive.

Yes, those trays must be tiled on. They are not finished products. They always need to be tiled on.

You can use other materials like mosaic or marble or stone, as long as it's not thicker than 15 mm. If they are, Showerlay Invisible is the range of the product you should be looking at.

Hi. Need to know measurements regarding how far waste is from edge of tray. Thanks.

Hi Wayne,

Thank you for your question.

Waste is in the centre of the drain, which means:

- 192 mm from the top of the tray to the centre of the outlet,

- 450 mm from left hand side to the centre of the outlet,

- 450 mm from right hand side to the centre of the outlet.

Drain is positioned 150 mm from top, left and right hand side.

If you cannot fit tray with such waste dimensions please let us know, we can either offer different tray or bespoke product.

I will be happy to assist if you have any questions.

Kind regards
